Job Summary
- Key Responsibilities:
- Design fiber routes from the central office or hub to customer premises using GIS and design tools.
- Assist in the design and documentation of fiber transport networks, including backbone, metro, and access systems.
- Prepare and maintain fiber design packages including routing of fiber cable, splice points, and construction documentation.
- Collaborate with splicing teams to troubleshoot discrepancies between design documentation and field conditions.
- Verify handhole locations, splice points, and field data to ensure design accuracy.
- Use client-designated tools to update network layouts, splice diagrams, and as-built documentation.
- Provide documentation for construction, permitting, and internal record-keeping.
- Follow structured training programs, design standards, and documentation procedures with precision.
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities and deadlines while maintaining quality and attention to detail. Required Experience & Skills:
- 1â3 years of experience in telecom, fiber network design, or documentation (internship or academic project experience may be considered)
- Foundational knowledge of fiber optic aerial and buried plant design principles, including splicing.
- Ability to read and interpret OSP construction drawings, splice diagrams, and network records.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications for reporting and documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills with the ability to coordinate across teams.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working under tight deadlines.
- Associate degree or technical training in telecommunications, engineering, or related field preferred. Preferred Knowledge & Tools:
