Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • This is a great career opportunity located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The person in this role will sell Lumen's full suite of offerings to Federal Civilian Agencies. As an Account Director, you will set, and drive account strategies aimed at powering your client's mission. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of achieving sales targets while leveraging the resources of extended account team members.
  • Formulates account strategies to grow the business and the relationships within assigned Federal Civilian Agencies.
  • Proactively hunts for net-new business within the existing account base, prioritizing dim or dark accounts by uncovering whitespace, building new stakeholder relationships, and creating opportunities where Lumen has limited or no current footprint.
  • Develops and manages relationships with acquired and/or existing customers in order to gain strategic positioning with decision makers, attain additional business, and retain existing revenue. Develops action plans to cross-sell and up-sell accounts to increase overall total customer spend with the company.
  • Identifies addressable market, drives proposals, and negotiates to close new sales opportunities.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the company's entire product suite. May have more in-depth knowledge on a subset of products and/or services.
  • Provides accurate and detailed weekly forecast funnel of identified and proposed opportunities in order to meet or exceed sales quota requirements.
  • Partners within the Lumen internal ecosystem, external partners, and the customer through a strategic and consultative sales approach to understand agencies mission needs, modernization goals and strategic priorities to deliver value-added solutions and excellent customer experience.
  • Provides input to sales management about trends and changes taking place within the customer's organization and makes recommendations about future courses of action necessary of the company towards improving its position with the customer. What We Look For in a Candidate Experience: 5 years industry specific sales experience.: Knowledge and understanding of the telecom and IT industry's competitive landscape. Experience with Salesforce.com preferred. Demonstrated strong communication, written, and formal presentation skills as well as proficiency in selling to the close. Requires at least 50% or more of time conducting sales activities outside of the office. Candidate must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain a security clearance. Must have a valid driver's license have a clean driving record. Travel required. Experience with cabinet level agencies such as DHS (FEMA, ICE, CISA, OIG) and DOJ a plus.
